Data Location Awareness
Technical Details -
DataLenz runs on IBM Z mainframes with supported releases of z/OS.
Installation of the DataLenz z/OS agent is simple and straight-forward, along with limited network configuration.
DataLenz supports all z/OS data types.
Data access start and end events are recorded for specified datasets, and kept in mainframe-based logs, accessible for reporting and real-time monitoring and alerting through the graphical interface.
The administrative and reporting interface runs as a workstation client, with secure access to your IBM Z mainframes running the DataLenz agent.
The patent pending DataLenz technology tracks the location of your employees, partners, contractors, and rogue actors, with the actual IP address of the device they are using, even if they are going through VPN or using NAT.
How does it all work?
After a brief install and some network access configuration, DataLenz will begin monitoring the data, applications, users, and geographies you specify right away. As you work with it and fine-tune it, you will build a clear, full picture of the nature of extraterritorial access, and immediately begin to be able to reconfigure accesses and other controls as you work to ensure all accesses are in-bounds.
The ability to have sub-administrators who can only specify monitoring and alerting criteria within their scope is a key way to ensure all your corporate organizations and internal customers are able to take ownership of the safety of their own data accesses.
And the alerting combined with map-based filtering and drill-down ensure you have a current, compelling, and clear picture of all ongoing activity of concern.
In addition to a simple and quick install, the product itself is both easy to use and low in resource requirements, taking advantage of the built-in logging facilities of the z/OS platform.
